Dr. Matthew McKnoulty

Dr Matt McKnoulty is a compassionate and experienced gynaecologist and fertility specialist dedicated to providing personalised, evidence-based care for women at every stage of life. He believes exceptional healthcare begins with listening and takes pride in creating a supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their healthcare journey.
 

Dr Matt was awarded Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) in 2022 following extensive training across multiple hospitals throughout South East Queensland. During his training, he completed a highly competitive Advanced Laparoscopy and Fertility position at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he gained advanced experience in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, fertility care, and colposcopy.
 

Alongside his private practice, Dr Matt works as a Staff Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Redcliffe Hospital, where he is actively involved in training the next generation of specialists. He regularly supervises RANZCOG trainees and junior doctors and is known for his calm, approachable teaching style. Passionate about medical education, he also travels throughout Australia as part of hospital accreditation processes that support high-quality training for future gynaecologists.

Having cared for and supported many patients experiencing fertility challenges throughout his work in the public system, Dr Matt developed a strong passion for helping individuals and couples navigate their fertility journey. As an obstetrician — and a father himself — he experiences the joy and significance of building a family every day. This further strengthened his desire to support patients through every stage of their reproductive journey and led him to pursue additional training in fertility medicine.
 

Dr Matt believes that staying current with evolving research and advances in women’s health is essential to achieving the best outcomes for patients. He has a strong academic background, with multiple first-author publications and ongoing involvement in research. He also enjoys mentoring and supporting junior doctors in developing their own research interests and projects.
 

Outside of medicine, Dr Matt enjoys spending time with his family. Life with two young boys and a surgeon wife means there is rarely a quiet moment in the McKnoulty household. Whether in the garden, by the pool, at the beach, or spending time with friends, family life keeps him happily busy.

Dr Matt operates out of Peninsula Private Hospital and Caboolture Private Hospital. He also does minor surgery, and IVF procedures (when his patients opt for general anaesthetic) at Herston Private Hospital.
