PATIENT RESOURCE
Comprehensive Endometriosis Care
At Sage Gynaecology, we believe that the best healthcare begins with understanding the whole person—not just their symptoms. Conditions such as endometriosis can affect many aspects of life, including physical wellbeing, relationships, work, mental health, and fertility. Rather than focusing solely on treating symptoms, we take the time to understand the underlying causes of your concerns and explore a wide range of evidence-based treatment options. Whether your goals involve pain relief, improving quality of life, preserving fertility, avoiding surgery, or pursuing advanced treatment, we work alongside you to develop an individualised management plan. Through open discussion, shared decision-making, and a holistic approach to care, we aim to empower every woman with the knowledge and support needed to make informed decisions about her health.
What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) grows outside the uterus. This tissue can be found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the lining of the pelvis. It responds to hormonal changes each month, which can cause significant inflammation and pain.
Symptoms to Look For
- Severe pelvic pain, particularly during periods
- Heavy menstrual bleeding or bleeding between periods
- Pain during or after sexual intercourse
- Bowel or bladder symptoms (pain or changes during menstruation)
- Chronic fatigue and lowered energy levels
- Difficulties with fertility
Diagnosis & Investigation
Obtaining an accurate diagnosis is the first step toward effective management. This usually involves a detailed clinical history, physical assessment, and specialized imaging such as deep infiltrative endometriosis (DIE) pelvic ultrasound or MRI. In some cases, a keyhole procedure (laparoscopy) is used to confirm and treat the disease.
Treatment Options
We offer a range of treatment pathways tailored to your goals, including medical therapies, lifestyle adjustments with multidisciplinary support, minimally invasive laparoscopic excision surgery, and long-term maintenance plans.
